RV Vacation: Ultimate Family Destinations
You’ve gone on a few weekend camping trips this summer, and they were great. Now your kids are bugging you to take them on a longer trip in your RV. Maybe they have the right idea! The aroma from the grill finding its way to your nose in the fresh air. The long, sunscreen-soaked days and campfire-filled nights. That does sound relaxing!
A classic family vacation like this can happen anywhere, but we’ve picked out a few destinations where we think the livin’ is extra good.
Destinations:
THE LAKE: OZARKS, MO
There’s nothing quite like the feeling of pulling your RV up to an 84 square mile lake with your family at the height of summer. The Lake of the Ozarks provides classic lake activities for families and is surrounded by plenty of businesses and restaurants to provide fun and unique family experiences. Aside from boat and Jet Ski rentals, you can try outparasailing. If you want to be out of the water for the day, try the area’s many mini golf courses or some laser tag.

THE MOUNTAINS: DENVER, CO
Open up your windows and let that mountain air roll in. The Denver area is packed with plenty of family activities, and has an abundance of trails and other outdoor activities to enjoy. At the foot of the Rocky Mountains, Denver allows great access to many parks and a 40-minute drive will bring you to mountain towns like Boulder. If you’re feeling adventurous, try out the zip lines. If zip lining doesn’t quench your thirst for adventure, try stopping by Elitch Gardens. This amusement park has rides that appeal to all ages and is a great way to spend the day with your family.
Where to stay: Cherry Creek State Park Campground
Just a few minutes outside of Denver, this large park is located around a reservoir in Aurora and is the perfect place to set up camp.
THE BEACH: MANATEE COUNTY BEACH, FL
Imagine soft white sand and bright blue ocean waters. Manatee County Beach provides a safe and clean beach that is great for families. It’s no accident that this beach is routinely ranked as one of the top ten best U.S beaches for families. Along with typical beach amenities like restrooms, there is a full playground. If you want a break from the Florida sun, check out the Florida Maritime Museum. It is just an 11-minute drive from the beach and offers free admission.
Where to stay: Frog Creek RV Resort & Campground
Frog Creek campsites are about a half hour drive away from the beach. This site offers a heated pool, and complimentary clubhouse access.
THE FOREST: SEQUOIA NATIONAL PARK, CA
Want to see a 2,000-year-old tree? Oh, it happens to be the world’s largest tree, too. That’s what you’ll find when you visit Sequoia National Park. Along with the world’s largest tree, and the massive forest of Redwood trees, there are plenty of other attractions at this national park that will make you want to start packing up the RV right now. There are hiking and camping tours, as well as cave exploration at Crystal Cave and of course Redwood Canyon Trail. While you’re there, your kids can become National Parks Junior Rangers and earn a patch while learning about the environment around them.
Where to stay: Sequoia RV Ranch
Only 8 miles away from the southern entrance of Sequoia National Park, this campground is surrounded by mature trees and runs along Kaweah River.
