Ahh yes, retreating to your home away from home has all of the perks of being at home while you’re on wheels. A big part of that is having running water and plumbing.

Create your routine
Before you hit the road in your RV, make sure you take a look at your plumbing lines and fittings. You’ll want to inspect them carefully, looking for loose connections in water supply pipes where water could leak out. If you find any loose fittings, make sure you tighten them up if possible. Even if you aren’t going on a trip in the near future, it’s a great idea to set aside a monthly time where you can take care of routine upkeep. During these times, you will want to sanitize and drain your tank and change any internal or external water filters. You’ll also want to look at your waste tank valves and monitor system to make sure that it is accurate and not leaking.
Greet the seasons:
When winter is around the corner, the most vital aspect of taking care of your RV is winterizing it. And that doesn’t change when it comes to your RV’s plumbing system. The last thing you want is to leave water in your RV’s pipes, have it freeze and break some of your plumbing elements. So be sure that you drain out all of the water and add an RV antifreeze product designed for portable water pipes.
Important papers:
While driving with your RV you will have a lot of important papers with you. From insurance papers, to passports to maps. But you should never forget the most important papers for your RV’s plumbing: toilet paper. Don’t grab a couple rolls from your bathroom at home! Pick up some RV-friendly toilet paper that breaks down easier and is kinder to your plumbing system. You’ll regret it if you don’t!
