More Delicious Camping Cocktails

The Good Life

It’s one thing to host a killer party, but it’s another to add some creativity to your camping cocktails. Rev up that regular old menu of beer and packaged drinks and spice things up a little with one of these experiments at your next gathering. Your friends and family will be amazed at how awesome these recipes are (or maybe that’s the alcohol talking).

Drunken Caramel Apples

This one takes some planning ahead, but they’re great for a fall get together! It’s an adult version of caramel apples (and very tasty if we don’t say so ourselves). The apples need to be soaked for a couple of days, and can be done at home before you leave for your trip or while you’re on the road. The finished product will keep for a couple of days too, if you’re really pressed for time.

  • ¼ teaspoon Kosher salt
  • ½ cup corn syrup
  • ½ cup brown sugar
  • ½ cup white sugar
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 1 cup half and half
  • 4 apples, peeled
  • Bourbon
  • Caramel apple sticks

Place your apples in a large container and cover with bourbon. Seal the container and let the apples soak in the refrigerator for two days. When your apples are nice and drunk add the caramel apple sticks to the top and make your caramel sauce. Add the butter, half and half, brown and white sugars, salt and corn syrup to a sauce pan. Heat on low and whisk until the sugar is completely dissolved. Continue heating until the mixture comes to a boil and turns a caramelly-gold color (ten to 15 minutes). Once the mixture becomes a thick liquid, add two tablespoons of bourbon. Let the mixture cool a little so it’s still warm, but not scalding. Gently roll your apples in the caramel, place on a greased cookie sheet and refrigerate for two to three hours before enjoying. Side note: If the heat is too high you’ll scald your milk! Stay close to your caramel to make sure it’s at a low enough temperature.

Sex on the Beach Poptails

A frozen favorite in portable form, these sex on the beach poptails are as easy to transport as they are to make. Make them ahead of time and pull them out for a couple friends or a large group. As long as you’ve got the freezer space, this classic will keep the party going.

  • 12 ounces pineapple juice
  • 3 ounces raspberries
  • 4 ounces vodka
  • 2 ounces Pama pomegranate liqueur

Blend pineapple juice and vodka until well blended and set aside. Blend raspberries and Pama liqueur until the raspberries are pureed and mixed into the liqueur. Pour ½ ounce of the pineapple mixture into each popsicle mold, followed by 1 ounce raspberry mixture. Using a butter knife, gently swirl the pineapple and raspberry mixtures together to get a just mixed effect in the mold. Cover with aluminum foil and insert popsicle stick into each well. Freeze for 6 hours or until solid.

Drunken Swedish Fish

You’ve heard of vodka soaked gummy bears. But have you tried these Swedish cousins? We heard about them and HAD to try. Our verdict? They are a solid addition to our typically liquid-only alcohol consumption. With just two ingredients, they’re super simple and these little guys are ultra-portable to your next party.

  • Swedish Fish
  • Strawberry Smirnoff

Submerge the Swedish Fish in Smirnoff for four to 24 hours (it’s a bit of a waiting game on this one). The amount of time varies depending on how much alcohol you want in your gummies. Once you’re done soaking, drain off the excess alcohol. They’ll be a bit slippery, so you’ll have to serve them to your guests with toothpicks or forks.

Drunk Brownies

For those chocoholics out there, this recipe was made with you in mind. Homemade brownie shot glasses topped with chocolate vodka pudding is dessert and drinks rolled into one biteable delicious combination.

  • 1 box brownie mix
  • 1 package instant chocolate pudding mix
  • 1 ¼ cup milk
  • ¾ cup Devil’s Food flavor vodka

Make your brownie mix according to the package instructions and spoon the batter into a mini muffin tin. Bake until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. Allow the brownies to cool and use a spoon to carve out the centers of your brownies. Combine pudding, milk and vodka and whisk for two minutes. Allow to set up in the refrigerator for two hours before adding to the centers of your brownie cups. Serve immediately or store in a covered container for one to two days.

Alcohol doesn’t have to be the same boring thing over and over. Surprise your guests with these unique twists on drinking and keep the party going all night long. Mix it up a little by trying different types of alcohol and flavors in these recipes to make a signature drink all your own. Cheers to partying it up in this Good Life.
